The oddly shaped structure in front of the pyramid is the Museum of the Solar Boat. It contains a 43m 'solar boat' (a boat used in the Pharoe's funeral rites) which was reassembled from the original parts found in a pit by the pyramid. Pits for five such boats have been found around the pyramid.
