There was a church erected on this site over 1000 years ago (Saxon). In the Doomsday Book. A large part of the present church dates from the Norman period around 1180. The Victorians altered part of the church when `restoring' it. The grave nearest the church door is that of Richard Bedford Bennett, 11th Prime Minister of Canada.
