- france brittany brest brest96 = The 1996 Brest tall-ship meeting drew more than a million visitors, and sported 3000 ships from all over the world at anchor along 7km of quays in the military and commercial harbours of the town. The festival lasted four days around the 14th of July, French Bastille Day.

 | France Brittany Brest Brest96 HMS Rose leaving the wharf tweaked BG.jpg (Earth Views) HMS Rose, as her name fails to show, is an American ship. She is the replica of an XVIII century war ship. The original ship was built in 1757 and first fought against the French Navy in Europe. She was sunk during the American Independence war in the Savannah river, Georgia, thus preventing a French fleet from reaching the American soldiers rooted in Savannah by the English. This replica was built in 1970 from the original plans found in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. HMS Rose is now mainly sailing along the East coast of the United States and is open to the public when not used as a school ship by the Navy. |
