The International Forum on the White Paper was an attempt to influence how the Internet was governed. Many people gave up time and money to attend various IFWP conferences world-wide, but many felt that their views were ignored and overridden by special interests close to governments, and even that some of the governmental representatives in the West behaved in a somewhat corrupt manner, as if hoping for directorships and other favours from the special interests.
