Bruno says: Grey squirrels are native from North America (and should therefore be called `gray squirrels') and have been imported to the British Isles. Being larger, swifter and generally more competitive than the local species or red squirrels, while living in the same habitat, they have now taken over most places red squirrels used to occupy. Indeed, while walking through London's parks and gardens, one can see dozens of grey squirrels but not a single red one. Those ``city squirrels'' are well used to people and will readilly come and eat out of a hand offering nuts, salted snacks or other delicacies and might even consider the hand itself as suitable to bite into.
