• lavender = Lavandula spp, Labiatae = Lavandula spp, especially Lavandula angustifolia, aromatic plants bearing clusters of small purple/violet/mauve/blue flowers from which an oil used in perfumes can be extracted. Can also be used in salads, and as a sedative/soporific to encourage sleep with a few drops on the pillow, and in skin treatments. Member of the Labiatae (mint family).
