• silicon = Si, semiconductor = Common semiconductor used in manufacture of digital "silicon chips" or "microchips" such as CPUs, memory (RAM, ROM, DRAM, EPROM, EEPROM, Flash, etc), and simpler/analogue devices such as amplifiers and individual bipolar transistors or FETs or diodes.
